Hiking in the Arlberg region

The picturesque region around Lech, Zürs and Stuben am Arlberg offers hiking enthusiasts a variety of varied routes through a breathtaking natural backdrop. From idyllic mountain lakes to impressive peaks – every hiker will find their own personal paradise here. Discover the beauty of nature and experience unforgettable moments on the following hiking routes.

1. Stubner circular route – approx. 2 hours (easy)

The Stubner circular route starts in Stuben and takes 2 hours of pure hiking time. The path leads over the “Schattahalb” past the See’le to the former federal highway. A climb on forest paths, past striking points such as the moonlight hut and avalanche dam, offers a view of the unique mountain landscape. The tour ends in Stuben, past the swimming pool and along the street.

2. Wannenkopf – approx. 4 hours (easy)

The Wannenkopf hike promises an adventurous experience in the picturesque Lech landscape. Starting at the Rüfiplatz hiking start point, take the hiking bus to Oberlech and continue to the final stop at Schlössle. You reach the Wannenkopf via the Tannegg viewpoint, the Gaisbühealpe and the Auenfeldsattel. The descent leads over steep serpentines to Warth, from where you can take the hiking bus back to Lech. Numerous places to stop for refreshments invite you to take a culinary break.

3. To Lake Zürsersee – approx. 3 hours (medium)

The hike to Lake Zürsersee is a 3-hour journey through an enchanting landscape. From Lech the hiking bus takes you to Zürs (1,717 m), where the tour begins. The path leads south along the road towards Flexenpass. After a short climb you reach Lake Zürsersee (2,160 m), the circumnavigation of which is rewarded with wonderful views. The way back leads along the Zürsbach, past alpine meadows, until you arrive back in Lech am Arlberg.

4. To the Erzbergsattel – approx. 5 hours (medium)

Start your hike in Stuben and follow the picturesque village street to the end of the town. Enjoy a short section along the road to the first bend.

Cross the road here and follow the gravel path uphill to Flexentäli. Cross this area and stroll along the idyllic Franz-Josef-Weg to Zürs. Once at the top, cross the road and turn left over the stream towards the Flexenpass. Shortly before the Flexenhäusl you cross the road again and then climb up, off the beaten path, towards the forest and gravel path. Follow this left and you will come across a delightful hiking trail. This path takes you through the rocky terrain directly to the Erzbergsattel and the summit cross with a breathtaking view of Stuben. You return the same way.

5. Weibermahd climb – approx. 2 hours (difficult)

The Weibermahd climb begins at Rüfiplatz and lasts 2 hours. The steep climb leads to Oberlech, past the fascinating gypsum holes. The route is varied and sometimes challenging. After a visit to the Grubenalpe, we go uphill to the Kriegeralpe and over the Rudalpe back to Lech to Rüfiplatz.
